Health Insurance for Students

The Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan works with Columbia Health to provide consistent, efficient care that complements the programs offered on campus.

All full-time students and all international students are required to demonstrate each academic year that they have health insurance. Students at Morningside have the option to purchase one of the Columbia Student Health Insurance options, or they may provide a waiver and documentation stating they have comparable health insurance coverage.

  • Each academic year, all registered full-time students must enter their choice online to confirm enrollment in the Gold level of the Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan (Columbia Plan), upgrade to the Platinum level, or request a waiver from enrollment in the Columbia Plan (domestic students only).
  • Part-time domestic students may request enrollment in either level of the Columbia Plan online.
  • All international students must request enrollment in either level of the Columbia Plan online.
  • Students at Columbia University Medical Center, Teachers College, Union Theological Seminary, or Jewish Theological Seminary should contact their schools for health insurance information.
