Columbia Engineering’s Online Graduate Degree Program Again Named Nation’s Best

Jan 16 2019

For the second year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has named the Columbia Video Network (CVN) America’s top online graduate engineering program.

Providing wide-ranging opportunities for part-time students to earn degrees, certifications and more, CVN combines state-of-the-art technological resources with decades of experience pioneering distance education to bring Columbia Engineering’s extensive expertise everywhere.

“We’ve been able to maintain the quality and thoroughness of our graduate programs thanks to the close relationship between faculty and CVN,” said Soulaymane Kachani, senior vice dean at Columbia Engineering and vice provost for teaching and learning at Columbia University. “I attribute this success to both the quality of our faculty and our offerings and the urgent need for an agile and more technically proficient workforce.”

Recently, CVN extended its certification program by launching industry collaborations with partners like Lockheed Martin and the Metropolitan Transit Authority. CVN’s offerings span all areas of engineering and applied science.

Since its founding in 1986, the program has delivered Columbia curricula to millions of students in some 200 countries. In recent years, it created the university’s first massive open online courses (MOOCs), focusing on education and professional development in areas including financial engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, and construction management. CVN is currently developing further offerings on edX, Coursera, and other platforms for both mass enrollment and more personalized learning.
