Tamar establishes and maintains relationships with employers in the Financial Engineering industries to encourage the hiring of students. Tamar meets with students one-on-one in an advising capacity and aims to connect them with hiring employers and alumni based on their talents, skills and interests to assist with the placement of students in the IEOR programs whose career interests align with Financial Engineering. Tamar also collects/analyzes employment data and generates placement and related reports for the Department/School.

Tamar is passionate about understanding the way people think and its application within business settings, particularly to the practice of recruitment, hiring and selection. Tamar received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Brandeis University and is a proud CU alumna, having received her Master of Arts in Social-Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Before joining the IEOR department at Columbia, Tamar worked in human resources in a variety of industries, including investment banking where she served as the project manager for an annual global employee satisfaction and engagement survey as well as other strategic HR programs and initiatives. Tamar recently received her doctoral degree in Applied Organizational Psychology at Hofstra University and conducted her doctoral research on recruitment and social media; a very pertinent issue for IEOR students!

In her spare time, Tamar enjoys networking (occupational hazard!), traveling, spending time with family and friends, trying new outdoor activities in New York City and taking hip-hop dance classes.
